About

I am a female Pyrenean Mountain Dog (or Great Pyrenees). I weigh 120 pounds. I am 28 inches tall at the shoulder, which means that my head is at about waist height. If I stand on my hind legs, I’m taller than a lot of adult bipeds.

Male dogs often weigh as much as 140 pounds and can be a few inches taller than I am.

My ancestors were bred as livestock guardians. This means I like to protect everyone in my family. I keep my eye on everything that happens.

I was interviewed by Rumpydog and talked about myself. The interview appears on Rumpy’s blog here: http://rumpydog.com/2012/07/10/introducing-clowie-the-pyrenees/

I wrote about the Santa Pups and how I grew as a puppy:  Santa Pups for Christmas? Read this first, straight from the doggy’s mouth

There is also a section of FBQs (Frequently Barked Questions) on my menu bar. https://clowiescorner.wordpress.com/category/frequently-barked-questions/

There is a wealth of information about the breed on the website of the Great Pyrenees Club of Southern Ontario. http://www.great-pyrenees-club-of-southern-ontario.com/

  1. Pyrenees are my most favorite dog in the whole world. A few years ago, we had a farm where we raised goats and I had two Pyrenees–Molly and Sam. They protected all of us from coyotes, trespassers, mountain lions, and yes, even snakes. They have passed over the rainbow bridge now but I will forever remember them, and miss them still. Will you allow me to come visit once in awhile? I promise to always be kind and gentle. I always have a treat in my pocket and offer up all the behind the ear scratches you can take. Your friend, Jeannie

  2. Can I give you a big Wolfie hug Clowie? I’ve never hugged a Pyrenean Mountain Dog before and you’re lovely 🙂 I’ve also clicked the F/bk Like button and followed you on twitter lol so does that qualify me for hugging you?!! 😉

    • Oh, they do say that you’ve never really been hugged until you’ve been hugged by a Pyrenean. I think you deserve a big hug. I’ll see if I can get back into twitter now and follow you back.

      • Aww 🙂 Don’t feel obliged to follow me back, only if you really want to – I don’t think my choice of tweeting material will appeal to you and that’s absolutely fine – a big hug with you will make my day just fine!

  3. Ha! What a great idea. My Poodle’s name is Chloe. Maybe she should start her own blog, too.

  4. You have awards Clowie’s Corner, should you choose to accept them. Please see my most recent blog post.

  5. Hi Clowie!
We (the pups and I) follow you on twitter, and as I was liking another bloggers post I noticed your beautiful little face in the icon next to mine! No two faces can be that beautiful, so I hovered over and sure enough it was you! You’ve got lots for me to read here and it’s a little late now but I will be back to catch up and learn lots more about you, just thought I would say ‘hi’ as i’m so excited to see you!
Hugs from me and schlurps from the pups! 🙂

    • Hi, thank you for coming to see me. I would like to say he barks highly of you, but you’ve seen his blog! In his defence – I think the cats not only told on him, but framed him.

  11. Don’t know if you have this award or not Clowie, but I thought of you as Zac’s favourite when it came my way:

  13. Hi Clowie! Thanks for stopping by my Mom’s blog! My Mom calls me White Dog…although the other day she said she should rename me Blackie. My Dad turned me out in the back yard, and I dug a nice hole to lay in. I don’t like grass; it makes me itch. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I hope to stop by now and again to see you!

    • Hi, thanks for coming to visit me! I’m rather good at digging, but the holes usually get filled in when I’m not looking! I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving. See you again soon!
