Spring is sprung

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris.
I wonders where the birdies is.
They say the birds is on the wing.
Ain’t that absurd?
I always thought the wing was on the bird.

Almond blossom

Almond blossom

Spring has arrived! We took this picture of almond blossom a couple of weeks ago. The trees looked beautiful. Yesterday when we got up, the wind had blown most of the blossom off the trees. It looked a bit like snow on the ground, but it isn’t nearly as much fun as real snow!

Lots of things are starting to grow. Some of the deciduous trees are beginning to look green again. The bipeds keep checking the buds on the wisteria to see how soon they think it will flower. The lizards are scurrying about in the middle of the day, when it’s warm. The little birds are hopping about picking up white hair to line their nests. I like to see them making use of my hair, there’s always some in the grass if you look closely.

I love being brushed because it is undivided attention from a biped. I need lots of brushing in the Spring because I shed my undercoat. (Read more about my coat – From Hair to Eternity) They sometimes take it in turns to brush me because they say it makes their arms ache โ€“ I love it!

The bipeds spend more time outside doing things like gardening, I enjoy being outside with them. When I think they’ve worked hard enough, I encourage them to take a break and play with me. Outside games are a lot more fun than games indoors!

The cats are happy because it’s warm enough for them to sunbathe on the balcony some days. They love it when it gets warm enough to leave the door to the balcony open all day.

The snow line gradually gets higher up the mountains. This means more paths are available to walk and there will still be snow in shady patches. On walks, the bipeds keep getting distracted by things like flowers, so I get extra sniffing time! The mountain streams are flowing with melted snow – very refreshing!ย The highest mountains still have white peaks, so the views are breathtaking.

We generally take longer walks in the Spring, when the weather is good. We take the walks we won’t be able to do when it gets too hot to go out in the middle of the day in the summer. Sometimes we’re lucky and see something unusual like wild goats. Later in the Spring, or early summer, we may see really young wild boar. They look really cute when they still have striped coats!

  1. Lovely blossom on the tree! We love spring here. Brilliant sun today, but very cold and some bad snow in the south! xx

  2. Your Spring looks and sounds wonderful Clowie…Momz and I love Spring too, but ours only lasts about a minute … we go pretty quickly from our version of Winter into full blown Summer…We see baby feral pigs here too but ours aren’t cute like yours…generally just a plain black

  3. Oh, where is the spring? Please send him to me Clowie ;o) Mom had such a wild boar piglet named August as she was a child ;o)

  4. Yay for spring Clowie – It’s arrived here too ๐Ÿ™‚

    Wags to all,

    Your pal Snoopy ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I can’t wait for Spring! It’s been grey, rainy, and windy here, so Spring must be close. I like your Almond Blossom tree.

  6. Me ventured outside because it was sunny and warm yesterday and we has daffy-dillies and two-lips coming up!!!! Me can’t wait for all the snows to melts and the hot days everyday! And the brushing probably feels wonderful! Mommy gots a pile of fur off of my hairy slobbery sister Bob that was bigger than me!

    • My cats are looking forward to it being hot enough to sunbathe every day. It is wonderful to get rid of my thick winter undercoat – there’s quite a lot of it!

  7. You are lucky to have spring, we’re still stuck in winter – I don’t mind but mummy is bored of the cold weather. There’s just no pleasing humans BOL

  8. Beautiful blossoms, adorable piglets; we BOL when we read “From Hair to Eternity”… we woof your posts, Clowie. Max & Bella

  9. Stopped raining in Seville, after a week or more Doggy finally got his morning run, he was getting annoying. I like spring, however, deep inside I fear it cuz I know that soon it’ll get really warm in here and I hate that, just hate it.

    • It gets hot a lot earlier in the year where you are. We usually only get a few weeks where it’s really too hot, even overnight.

  10. oh my goodness! I have never seen wild boar piglets before and they are soooooooo cute!
Those blossoms are gorgeous! Do they SMELL like almond?

    • They do look cute while they’re still stripey! I don’t think the blossom smells likes almonds – it’s a very light and fresh smell.

  11. We can’t wait for spring.

  12. That almond tree looks pretty. Elizabeth says there’s nothing more beautiful than an almond tree in full blossom. Our equivalent, she says, would be a pincherry tree, but the blossoms are much, much smaller!
We like fall better in our household. But only by a narrow margin. All the seasons have their pros and cons!

    • The almond trees do look amazing, but it’s usually for quite a short time. The autumn is the best time if you want to go up the highest mountains here – and the weather is often very good. I enjoy the changing seasons.

  13. Glad you got spring early. We are still waiting things out over here. Happy WW!

  14. Who doesn’t love Spring? Tell me and I’ll encourage them to re-think their position. BOL That is a beautiful photo of the Almond Blossom…kinda looks like a Cherry Blossom, no?!?

  15. We know you love snow so we tried to send you some, but every time we put it in the box it melted!

  16. We can’t wait for spring to come to us too! We think we’re really going to like springtime. Mom wants to know if those cute little boars could learn to use litter boxes….silly Mom.

    • I’m sure you’ll love it when you start to get more sunshine! The little ones would look cute trotting around indoors in their stripey coats, but I don’t know how well behaved they’d be.

  17. So great to see things blooming again. I can’t wait for warmer weather!

  18. I love the spring! And we’re finally seeing signs that it’s on its way to Maryland. ๐Ÿ™‚ Crocuses, snow iris, and daffodils are starting to bloom, And I saw some flowers on a plum tree today that look ready to open soon. Enjoy those longer walks and brushings!

    • It’s my favourite time of year. I love daffodils, they always look so cheerful. I will enjoy the longer walks, it’s wonderful when we go out for the day.

  19. Oh, almond blossoms are so beautiful! And those baby boars look like baby tapirs; so cute!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. We love spring too! It’s starting to get warm here; in fact, mom says its suppose to be 80 on Friday! Woo Hoo!
