I’m really excited that Savannah has agreed to be my guest today. I’m sure you’ll enjoy hearing about her. Put your paws together and give her a warm Clowie’s Corner welcome!
Clowie: Thank you for joining me today, Savannah. Let’s begin with you telling us a little about yourself.
Savannah: I am a 5 year old Russian Blue type cat, with totally darling white markings!
C: Very cute!
Savannah: No, seriously, they are really, really special! I have really cool toes on my front paws…sort of a French mani if ya know what I mean?
C: Ooh, I’ve never had a manicure – très chic!
Savannah: My toes on both front paws have these really cute white tips…then, my back paws have almost complete white socks! Neat, huh?! Oh, and there is more,…I have this very nice large white bib under my chin, on my neck…very striking if I must say! And then, I have these two great diamond shape white markings on my tummy. Nice!
C: Your markings are purrrrfect! Would you like to tell us about your home?
Savannah: I have only been in my furrever home since January 3 2012, but I really like it lots. I still have to try to overcome my fear of being picked up…and I don’t do laps, at least not yet. Maybe one day I will be able to let Dad and Mom pick me up and stuff…just not now.
C: That isn’t very long, these things take time. How did you come to live with them?
Savannah: Oh Clowie…this is such a great story! My Dad and Mom were looking for a private no kill rescue organization where they could volunteer. You see, they are retired and want to give back to their community, especially to animals. And they had just lost their last of 3 before me senior cats about two months earlier.
They read about a place called Kitty Corner, owned by Contra Costa Humane Society which is located just about a mile away from their house, which is near San Francisco in sunny California! Convenient, huh?
C: Yes, very!
Savannah: Anyways, Dad and Mom visited Kitty Corner and someone pointed out this sweet but very shy and terrified cat who almost never comes out of her cubby bed…that was me!!!
I had been there for 11 months and no one wanted me. In fact, some of the volunteers had been whispering that I was “unadoptable” and maybe I should be euthanized. I was just so scared, and no one knew, but I had a really bad painful bladder infection too. So I didn’t come out of my hiding places. Some of the volunteers thought I was “angry” or “unsociable”.
C: That’s so sad. How did you come to be there?
Savannah: Before Kitty Corner I was in the local county animal shelter, a kill shelter, for about 3 months. Someone dumped me in the night drop off cage so no one knows if I was a stray or maybe a family just didn’t want me anymore. Anyway, I was only hours from being destroyed when a volunteer from Kitty Corner pulled me to take me home as her foster. Then in a few days a space opened up for me at Kitty Corner, pheww! Close call!
C: I’m glad that you were fortunate enough to find a good home with bipeds that are helping you to become more confident. I believe you enjoy playing now – what is your favourite game?
Savannah: Oh cat! I’ll have to think about that one…well, I would have to say that I really most like playing “Oh No! Mice in the Bed”…I do that with Mom and Dad when they are in bed…you know…it’s the one where they wriggle their feet and I pretend there are mice in the bed and try to kill them. Lots of fun! Of course, I did damage Mom that one time, but she got over it.
C: Accidents happen! We have to be so careful when we play with bipeds because their skin is so vulnerable. Remembering their distinct lack of fur, especially if we’re excited about a game, can be quite problematic at times.
I have one last question for you – do you have a favourite book?
Savannah: Absolutely! I just adore TS Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”. I especially like the poem about Ad-dressing A Cat…oh yeah, and the one about the Naming of Cats…just great stuff!
C: That’s one of my favourites! It’s a lovely blend of humour and insight.
Thank you so much for being my guest today.

Thank you Savannah! I’m glad you enjoyed it, I did as well. You were a lovely guest!
What a beautiful cat Savannah is. I love to hear good news stories about cats and dogs from pounds – as you know Stan was also unadoptable – Savannah’s owners will know how good it feels it prove people wrong on that one.
They are both proof of what love and patience can do! Don’t forget to go and explore Savannah’s blog.
Great story, gorgeous cat, super interview x.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Clowie brilliant interview and we so liked to read about the adorable Savannah. We wish them all well. Lovely story. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Thank you, Molly! She is adorable! You have a good day as well.
Hey Clowie, Jet here.
Great job interviewing my BFF (best feline friend)! Thanks for sharing her story. She is fetching isn’t she? I volunteered to be her Champion because the mancats were getting a little too zealous (vocab building project VBP)!
Thank cat (Savvy taught me that) her shelter saved her and now she lives in a pawesome forever home with Miss Linda!
Thank you, Jet! I’ve seen you doing an excellent job as her Champion. I had to tell my own cats to give her some space! Yes, it’s great that she’s living with understanding bipeds now.
Hey Clowie,
BOL! She deserves the best life for sure. I encourage you to continue your journalism career! 🙂
Perhaps I shall. I’m waiting for the television offers to come rolling in!
Hi Clowie,
Sorry for the late response to your reply… if it helps, Mom produced a local tv show last year, feel free to inquire as to tips!!! She learned on the job!
Thank you! That’s worth knowing.
Excellent interview Clowie! Savannah is a brave cat who’s learning that there are a lot of kind loving bipeds in the world – which is hard to remember when you’ve been through a lot of shelters trying to find a forever home! She’s got one of those now though for sure!
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
Thanks Sammy! It must be hard to learn to trust again after an experience like that. I’m so glad she has a good home now!
We are too Clowie…..! 😀
Sam
Excellent interview Clowie 🙂
Thank you, Misaki!
Gooood interview, Clowie…. think I should buy this Possum- book…sounds interesting :o)))
Thanks, Easy! It’s quite a small book – it wouldn’t take you much longer to chew it up than it took you to destroy the mail!
Thanks so much for this interview! I am very proud to be able to call Savvy my furriend =^.^=
Purrs
Hi Texas! Thank you!
Great interview Clowie! And, Savannah, you’re a gorgeous girl!

Hey RA! great interview with Miss Clowie, huh? I thought she asked really good questions! play bows, Savvy
Oh Savannah,
It was so great to read your interview with Clowie 🙂 I’m so happy you found your forever family and this story has a happy ending!! 🙂
I love your little white markings, I have white feet too, a bit hard to keep clean though!! 🙂
Have a fun day
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Hi Snoopy. I have white paws – when they haven’t been in the mud! I don’t suppose Savannah has as much trouble as we do – cats are much more careful where they put their paws!
Hi Snoopy! waves paw…I am so happy you like my white paws, cuz those are Mom’s fave feature on me! MOL paw pats Savannah
Great interview, Clowie!
I don’t like CATS except Cody from OpCatChat but I’ve to admit that Savannah is cuter than my neighbours and she is prettier too.
~ EVA
Thank you, Eva! I live with cats and I’m very fond of them, but they do have some strange ways sometimes!
Hey there Savannah, nice to meet you! You sure are one great looking kitty! 🙂

Savannah is beautiful!
Thanks for taking a chance on her after she was overlooked for so long. I love stories like that. I have no doubt that eventually she will come fully out of her shell. I have to say the mousie under the covers game sounds like a lot of fun!
She is lovely! She has improved and I’m sure she’ll continue to do so.
Hi Mom here, and we are so glad we have Miss Savannah, all those who passed her by missed one fantastic cat!
